Festival to take place in Corkagh Park, Clondalkin on 14 September Inspired@SouthDublin is a health and wellbeing event being held in Corkagh Park, Clondalkin on Saturday 14 September from 11 am to 4 pm and is part of South Dublin County Council’s Health & Wellbeing Week 2019. Hosted by South Dublin County Sports Partnership, in conjunction with Dublin’s Outdoors and South Dublin County Council, the event will have three separate themes – Inspire Us, Inspired Sport, and Inspired Wellness and will be packed with activities for people of all ages and abilities. Joining Inspired@SouthDublin on the day for a series of sports talks will a host of sports stars such as World Champion Boxer Kellie Harrington, Olympic Silver medallist Kenneth Egan and Ireland’s European Youth Olympic Champion Rhasidat Adeleke. Dave and Steve Flynn from The Happy Pear will offer a food demonstration and talk while Kate McDaid, Nutritionist with Dublin GAA’s Senior Ladies and Longford Senior Men’s teams will offer her insights with a nutrition talk. Representatives from several sporting bodies such as Athletics, Rowing, Volleyball, Cricket, Special Olympics, Boxing, and Tag Rugby will also be in attendance demonstrating their respective sport and providing information on how to participate locally. Visitors will have an opportunity to take part in various sport demos, mini-games or skills competitions to encourage active participation and interaction. Information will be provided on how various sportscan be adapted to include the participation of people with disabilities. This event is accessible to all ages and abilities, with food stalls, play areas for children, face painters and balloon makers. The event will conclude with a FREE Colour Run at 4 pm. “Our ‘Inspired Sport’ theme is where sporting bodies will demonstrate their respective sport and provide information to attendees on how they can participate locally,” said Ian Farrell, South Dublin County Sports Partnership Community Sports Officer. “Each sporting code will also provide information and demonstrations on how theycan be adapted to include the participation of people with disabilities.” “Our ‘Inspire Us’ and ‘Inspired Wellness’ themes will offer a range of mass participation classes such as yoga, box fit, Pilates, and dance, as well as talks and Q&As to inspire people to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.” “South Dublin County Sports Partnership and Dublin’s Outdoors are showcasing that sports, and physical activities are available to all regardless of age or ability,” said Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Vicki Casserly. “It is a perfect opportunity for everyone to try out a new sport or physical activity and listen to top athletes and leading professionals regarding sport, nutrition and mindfulness. It really promises to be a fun and inspiring day”. Inspired@SouthDublin Health and Wellness Festival is a ticketed event. The park is on the 13 and 69 bus routes. Parking is available at either the St. John’s Wood Entrance off Fonthill Road, or the carpark off the Green Isle Road.
